Conversion plates are a popular, cost-effective choice for filling in holes left from older fittings such as PLC and halogen. Things to be aware of:
 

- It is very hard to always match the colour of the fitting to the plate. While we have a range of lights that match plate colours, if using your own sourced downlights it is highly suggested a sample is tested before committing to large orders.
 

-Be careful of trim sizes. Not all downlights are the same. While 70 and 90mm cutout sizes are common, trims (the face) can vary. This can be the difference between having the downlight sit flush in the hole of the plate, or having it sit on top of the plate. Our range of 'LT' large trim plates suits most downlights on the market, but it is good to measure the downlight.
 

- You may also consider our modular downlight system : D15 and D14, which feature various wattage modules and plates to suit all sorts of cutouts. While this option is more expensive, the benefits of having a uniform appearance and flexible cutouts far outweighs this.
